Field Study at Maryland's iSchool

Welcome! This site is designed to help MLS students at the University of Maryland iSchool identify potential sites where they can complete their required field study experience. Many partner institutions regularly provide field study opportunities for MLS students. For more specific information regarding the field study course, please consult the field study information page. 

Students/Faculty: For a complete listing of partner institutions and contact information, please login with your UMD username and password. Placement sites are categorized in several different ways in order to select a location that will best suit individual needs and interests. An alphabetical list of partner institutions is available as well as a category sort under the "Search by Categories" tab. A list of additional field study opportunities that are currently available is also provided.  

Institutions: This database includes institutions that have expressed an ongoing interest in providing field study experiences for students. Full contact information and additional information about field study institutions is available to students upon login. If your institution is not on the list and you would like to be added, please complete the Add an Institution form available on this site. Institutions seeking students for specific field study projects that are only available during particular time periods should use the Add an Additional Opportunity form. When completing the form, institutions should include a description of the project, application deadlines, and any relevant documents.  Postings for additional opportunities are available in full detail to students upon login.
